The BluScenes Promise
Welcome to BluScenes.com, and thank you for checking out our site on behalf of all of us at Scenic Labs! It's been a long time in the making, and we're really excited to finally be offering our Blu-ray discs.
We started Scenic Labs, first and foremost, because we are big fans of Blu-ray. More specifically, what we love is the format's ability to deliver a degree of realism that was not possible with DVD or previous formats. All of our programs are 100% brand new -- designed to leverage the capabilities of Blu-ray discs while not paying short shrift to content quality. To this end, we stand by our discs with a 100% no-questions-asked satisfaction guarantee, and we will always work to ensure that our prices are lower than competing products.
Here are some of the things that we believe set our programs apart from the rest:
1) All of our discs originate from 1080p (or better) source material. Our aquarium and fireplace discs were shot in 4K, utilizing a RED One camera. The RED RAW files were color graded before being fed through compressor via RedRushes. The best image quality is achieved when color-grading is performed on the source files.
2) All of our discs contain 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio and 5.1 Dolby Digital audio options.
3) All of our discs contain main menus and pop up menus. You can choose a different selection without interrupting your program.
4) All of our discs are designed to loop as smoothly as possible. In other words, we edit each segment so that the final frame matches the first frame of a loop -- and all looping segments are over 20 minutes in length. This avoids the kind of image "jump" that can stand out like a sore thumb on other discs.
5) We support Managed Copy. As of this writing (December 2010), Blu-ray players don't yet support Managed Copy, but we believe that our customers have the right to make an archive or play our programs from a media server. When the BD spec supports managed copy, we will ensure that our programs are included.
And finally:
6) All of our discs include a public display license at no additional cost. Many restaurants, doctors' offices and places of business use ambient Blu-ray discs. Many discs from other sources require a separate licensing fee for public display. Each BluScenes disc includes a license to display our discs on a one-disc-per-screen basis. For other uses, please contact us via our contact us form.
Also, it's not really a difference because, THANKFULLY, region coding appears to have not caught on for Blu-ray, but we do not region code our products. If you have a Blu-ray player or PS3, you CAN play our discs anywhere in the world.
One more thing: Regarding the "*" next to "seamless looping": the discs are as seamless as your player allows. The original generation of PS3 has a very slight pause (not unlike when a DVD would sometimes switch layers) at the end of a loop (all of which are longer than 20 minutes). Some players might perform better or worse, but this is a limitation of all Blu-ray discs. Managed copy is enabled on our discs, so you might want to try playing from a harddrive if your application calls for the best possible performance.
Once again, on behalf of the BluScenes team and everyone at Scenic Labs, LLC, thank you for visiting us today.
